Classical Front-Line Strategy
The science of strategy reduces the complexity of challenging situations to
their essential elements.
If you think success is either a matter of luck or following a plan, give us the
chance to change your mind.
If you think conflict and competition are the same thing, you might be curious
to know why we teach "winning without conflict." If you think you need
to get a big break or do something momentous to be successful, we
would like to suggest another way.
In a dynamic, competitive world, planning
has limits. You constantly need to make good
decisions in situations that cannot be planned. Front-line strategy is
history's only proven system for making those
decisions.
The science
works by comparing available alternatives in a logical, systematic way. You
use it to advance your position by leveraging opportunities in the environment
that most people fail to see. These opportunities usually take the form of
small, almost effortless steps in the right direction.
Using the science of strategy's method of comparison, we compare
how the science differs from other types of management strategy and sales
training in this series of articles.
Sun Tzu's ideas were written in the context
of ancient Chinese science. While
this science is unfamiliar to people today, it contained a number of powerful
concepts that we are just rediscovering in our analysis of chaos and
complexity.
